A good variety of subjects this issue as we start a new series by James Rizzo on making a lovely little (not too little!) Victorian Hot Air Engine, Stewart Hart continues with his true vertical engine for novice engineers and Ian Strickland makes progress with his much admired R&B Engine – a rework of a Model Engineer design from the mid 1980s. For the locomotive builders, Henry Wood explains the making of the mechanical lubricator for Emma Victoria and we have an alternative technique described for making brass domes and chimney bases. We look back at the beginnings of the Hunslet Engine Company whose 150th Anniversary year is being celebrated in 2015 and celebrate with the Steam Tug Kerne Preservation Society who have won HL Funding which will help secure her future on the water.
