Flooding as heavy rain sees river burst banks

ASTONISHING photos capture flash floods near Plymouth on Saturday after heavy rain caused a river to burst its banks. The River Yealm at Yealmpton spilled out causing roads to swamp with water.

The Boldventure area was impassable with traffic unable to get through towards Newton Ferrers and Noss Mayo. There was also standing water on the A3121 from Ermington to Yealmpton leading to warnings.

Homes also appear to have flooded as the Met Office sounds a thunderstorm warning for the entirety of Devon and all of the South West.
