GRANITE HARBOUR
NEW FRIDAY, 8PM, BBC1 DRAMA (BOX SET, BBC IPLAYER)
The murder of a drug kingpin’s accomplice and a stowaway on a Norwegian cargo ship cause tension in Aberdeen’s criminal underworld as police drama Granite Harbour returns to BBC1 this week for a new three-part series.
While DC Davis Lindo (played by Romario Simpson) and DS Lara ‘Bart’ Bartlett (Hannah Donaldson) take a closer look into the notorious McFadden crime family, led by the steely Grace (River City’s Lesley Hart), they’re also drawn into the story of pregnant Iranian refugee Mariam Faraki (Marriage’s Afsaneh Dehrouyeh), who claims her other half was killed during their journey across the sea.
Although Lindo and Bart’s boss, DCI Cora MacMillan (Dawn Steele, see box), later takes them off Mariam’s case, Lindo remains convinced the ship’s crew is hiding something – but is he on the right course?
TV Times brought Romario, 29, and Hannah, 39, in for questioning…
Royal Military Police veteran Lindo was a hot-headed new recruit when he was sent to Scotland’s Granite City to begin his detective training in the first series. Is he still prone to rash decisions?
ROMARIO He’s more embedded in the team now, so there’s more collaboration with Bart and Cora. Lindo still has these instinctive impulses where he dismisses authority and just does whatever he needs to do in that moment, but he understands procedures more than he did when he first came. So you’ll see he’s matured, but he’s still a bit of a loose wire!
And has Lindo and Bart’s professional partnership strengthened now that they know each other better?
