What is the best way to win a person’s heart? ‘Food, 100%!’ smiles Donal Skehan, 37, as he joins TV Times for an exclusive interview to talk all things love and romance, ahead of Valentine’s Day this Wednesday. ‘Cooking a meal for someone, making a dish they love, is probably the most beautiful thing you can do to show you care.’
A familiar face on This Morning since 2011, the Irish chef is currently enjoying a culinary adventure for the ITV1 daytime show in mini-series Donal’s Drive Thru America, which is showing on Mondays throughout February.
Here, the dad-of-two and cookbook writer, who’s also a regular on BBC1’s Saturday Kitchen and has a YouTube food channel with over 1 million subscribers, shares his recipes for success this Valentine’s Day…
Are you a romantic at heart?
Absolutely. Or at least I was, in my younger years when I met my now-wife, Sofie. I’d cook her three-course meals, I proposed in Paris – then our two boys came along and suddenly there’s less time! But Valentine’s Day is a good moment to stop, step away and cook something special. I’m going to have to do it now, as she’ll be reading this!
