In 2022, Serina Lee clinched the top prize at Harper’s BAZAAR NewGen Fashion Award with her picturesque blend of age-old traditions and cutting-edge modernity. The LASALLE College of the Arts alum—who won the judges over with her subtle yet statement-making pieces influenced by Chinese ink painting and calligraphy as well as 3D digital graphics that can be bought as NFTs—took home a $10,000 cash prize as well as a scholarship for a master’s degree at Istituto Marangoni, one of the world’s most prestigious fashion schools.
Shortly after her win, the 24-year-old got busy developing her first ready-to-wear collection—comprising updated pieces from the runway and an extended unisex size range—while juggling custom fashion and Chinese art-related projects as well as teaching Chinese painting and calligraphy. Lee’s debut collection, retailing in Design Orchard, was also showcased in the January 2023 issue of Harper’s BAZAAR Singapore. Now pursuing her Masters degree in Fashion Design at Istituto Marangoni London (IML), Lee tells us about the impact that NewGen has had on her, her life on campus, and her hopes for 2024.

This doesn't mean that you'll lose everything. In fact, the whole month has the potential to be highly abundant, especially around the 19th, when Venus transits through your sign.
