Zahirah Macwilson has just had lunch at the Dior Café, hosted at Ember Beach Club in One&Only Desaru Coast, before embarking on a packed schedule of activities planned for the celebrities attending the Dioriviera pop-up. The 28-year-old promptly dished out her suggestions of what to try from Chef Raymond Tham’s curated menu for the event.
“Do you enjoy fish? If yes, then you should order the barramundi. It’s just so good, and the best part is it is paired with caramelised tamarind and assam pedas fregola. Can you imagine?” she says with enthusiasm and a delightfully throaty laugh. Excited to delve further into the topic of cooking, I asked if she would consider replicating the same dish in her home kitchen. “I can try, but I can’t guarantee the outcome,” she jests. She discloses that her passion for cooking is blossoming, particularly after she became a mother. The kitchen is now a source of joy for her at home. “I just love seeing my family enjoy what I make for them, and I hope my husband has been telling the truth about my cooking [laughs].”
As much as she is passionate about putting together delicacies in her kitchen, Macwilson is even more ambitious in her professional life. Raised in multiple cities to parents of British and Malay descent, the actress spent her formative years in Sheffield, London and Perth, Australia. Industrious since young, she initially enrolled in Human Resources and Management at Curtin University, Perth, while working for Virgin Australia Airlines as a ground crew.
