Army leave it late to regain trophy

MOMENTS and minutes change matches in equal measure, and that is exactly what happened at Kingsholm as the British Army’s men regained the Inter Service Championship trophy.

Army leave it late to regain trophy

With the clock ticking towards the hour, this was a game in the balance at 14-19, with a grandstand finish beckoning.

Then full-back Toby Evans was sin-binned for batting down a try-scoring pass, a penalty try was awarded to the Army, and the next 10 minutes brought a jab, hook and upper cut which knocked the RAF out of the running.

Vereimi Qorowale finished off Solodrau Radianirova’s break down the left. Matthew Dawson’s supporting run rewarded Connor O’Reilly’s burst through and finally, Ifereimi Bolodau rolled back the years to power through from 30 metres.

In the blink of an eye the score was 45-14 and the Inter Service Championship’s destiny was decided.
