THE closure of a historic bridge has left elderly and disabled people unable to access one of Manchester's beauty spots, campaigners say.
The Bailey Bridge, which runs over the River Mersey in Chorlton, was closed by Manchester Council earlier this year.
The bridge links Chorlton Water Park to Kenworthy Woods and the Chorlton Park ward to the Northenden ward.
The council closed the bridge in February, citing health and safety reasons.
Lee Ann Igbon, the council's executive member for vibrant neighborhoods, previously told the M.E.N: "Although we know this may be inconvenient for many people who use this bridge regularly, residents' safety is our absolute priority.
"This is a busy and popular route and we are looking at potential long-term solutions, as significant work will be required. In the meantime we are exploring short-term temporary options to restore limited access to the bridge."
