THERE has been a huge increase in anti-Semitic hate crimes recorded by Greater Manchester Police in the months following the conflict in Gaza, new figures show.
Between October 2023 and February 2024, GMP recorded 228 anti-Jewish hate crimes - up 231 per cent from 69 crimes recorded during the same period the previous year.
The figures, obtained by Freedom of Information requests, showed no significant increase or decrease in Islamophobic hate crimes compared with the previous year.
The force said they are dedicated to tackling hate crime and investigate all reports thoroughly.
However, overall numbers collected by LegalExpert show that there were almost triple the number of anti-Muslim hate crimes than anti-Semitic crimes between October 2022 and February 2023.
