F1 descended on Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona, with Mercedes getting things going by unveiling the W03 on the morning of the first day in Spain. Meanwhile, Lotus, the team that was the talk of Jerez with what appeared to be a very nifty E20 chassis for returning Kimi Raikkonen dropped a bombshell in the evening after the first day in Barcelona – in a nutshell the second chassis was faulty and their test was over. In this issue we say ‘arrivederci’ to Jarno Trulli while welcoming Vitaly Petrov’s lifeline at Caterham, and report on the first day in Barcelona.

The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix was an amazing race, Undoubtedly the best of the year and right up there among the classics in the seven star setting of the Yas Marina Circuit.
Kimi Raikkonen took one of the most popular victories in recent memory. Sebastian Vettel drove the race of his life from the back of the field to third place and Fernando Alonso reduced the points gap at the top of the table to ten points with two rounds to go.
