Welcome to issue 163 of The GameOn Magazine!
We’re busy putting up bunting for the coronation of
King Charles III here at GameOn Towers, but not too
busy to give you a whole lot of gaming goodness right
in these pages!
Our articles this month see a look at the phobia
Thalassophobia, Kirby’s original game, and Persona 5:
Strikers. We also have Far Cry 5, Mario games, and the
usual So I Tried and Hidden Gems!
Next, the previews are filled with games that have just
entered Early Access, titles due out any day now, and
some more distant. Exoprimal is quite a way away, for
instance, but Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is almost here!
Our writer was flown out especially to check it out
only a few weeks ago!
Finally, our reviews are packed with 8/10s, for some
strange reason. There are higher and lower, but that
surprised me! Dylan was spotted by the Contraband
Police, while Alana investigated the Mato Anomalies,
and Mike oiled up for WWE 2K23. Violet tried to keep
Roxy Racoon 2: Topsy-Turvy, and Bennet cast The Last
Spell, while Artura said Tchia. Of course, you already
saw what was on the cover, so you know what Jase
reviewed already.

So I Tried...It Takes Two

Each edition of So I Tried...sees a member of staff trying a game that they have never played before.

When Are We Getting A Resident Evil Outbreak 3?

Towards the end of the PlayStation 2's life cycle, Capcom released the once-underappreciated and now-forgotten gems that are Resident Evil Outbreak and Resident Evil Outbreak File 2. These are cooperative multiplayer Resident Evil games, set during the event of the Raccoon City Incident.

Hidden Gem: Whateverland

Although I usually love the idea of point-and-click games, I oftentimes end up pretty bored or craving more action, and no matter how good the story, it never seems to be enough to get me through the titles. This was true until I accompanied my wife on her journey to review the charming point-and-click adventure Whateverland.

Game Over: Persona 5 Strikers

While I'm not a fan of musou \"Dynasty Warriors-style\" games, I had a blast with Persona 5 when I played it, and was interested in the direct sequel Persona 5 Strikers.

The Lack Of Mainline Mario Games On The Nintendo Switch Is Disappointing

The Nintendo Switch has a great library - I don't think anybody would argue against that. It has platformers, strategy games, adventure titles, and so much more. There's so much stuff to play for basically everyone. But what it doesn't have is enough mainline Mario games.

Top 5 Things I Want To See From Star Wars: Jedi Survivor

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is an excellent third-person adventure game set in the Star Wars universe with lots of lightsaber action and clever puzzles. But that doesn't mean it can't be improved!

Gaming With Phobias: How Does It Feel To Be A Gamer With Thalassophobia?

Phobias affect nearly everyone, and that's okay! Whether you're afraid of bugs, arachnids, heights, flying, or more obscure things, these phobias can get in the way of your day-to-day life just as much as they might be a once-in-a-blue-moon occurrence.

Revisit Far Cry 5 On It's Fifth Anniversary

The Far Cry series has always chosen exotic locations for its games. From sweltering jungles to arid deserts, the settings are always treacherous, something that reinforces the survival element that the series is known for.

Shadows of Doubt

What's it called when you smoosh cyberpunk and noir together? Noirpunk? Whatever it's called, Shadows of Doubt pulls it off perfectly in this first-person open-world mystery game from developer ColePowered Games. Actually, the developer says \"sci-fi noir\", and I can see why they'd want to keep this game divorced from the term cyberpunk.

World's Worst Handyman

I will admit that I thought that World's Worst Handyman was a different sort of game to what it is. I imagined something like Surgeon Simulator; but what I got was something more akin to Moving Out mixed with Hello Neighbor. It was probably just me misreading the description, but I certainly wasn't disappointed.

Mato Anomalies

Futuristic neo-noir games like Mato Anomalies are quite common to see, ranging from Deus-Ex, to Katana Zero, to Blade Runner, but a mix between a visual novel, a turn-based RPG, and a deck-building card battler is more unique.
