Stamp Magazine - June 2024
In this issue
In the June issue of Stamp Magazine, we examine Denmark’s ‘Caravel’ series, attractive mid-range definitives which were in use from 1927-42. With two methods of printing, provisional overprints, re-engraved dies and wartime issues, they make a great collectable.
We also dive into the postal history of a more modern Australian series, the Sport definitives of 1989-94. They stood out for the way they depicted ordinary people, but also for the way they pioneered the large-scale use of self-adhesives.
The latest in our series on British commemoratives in the early years of Queen Elizabeth II features the Battle of Britain set of 1965, with its behind-the-scenes controversy, while Commonwealth Classics recalls Uganda’s first issue of 1895, produced on a typewriter.
Our news pages dissect the 100 Years of Commemorative Stamps set from Royal Mail, interesting new issues from around the world, and the latest highlights from the auction rooms. Meanwhile, our opinion columns discuss the attraction of stamp-on-stamp designs and the future of the local stamp fair.
Don’t miss it!
