Welcome to the third issue of Now! Singapore. Every issue so far we’ve had something to celebrate and this issue is no different. February sees the city celebrating a month of romance before welcoming the new lunar year on February 19th. Chinese New Year is a great time to visit the lion city with the streets of Chinatown decked in their finest livery and the population in a fine festive mood.

This issue features our expanded travel section, where we focus on ideal destinations in the region for a memorable off-the-beaten track city break. We look at the exciting launch of Bawah Island, discover the magic of Nihiwatu on the island of Sumba and enjoy the beauty of Yangon and Inle Lake in Myanmar.

Fortunately, in this issue we have a whole wonderful selection of calmer and more serene things to do! We explore the lesser known a districts of Singapore, Katong and Joo Chiat, enjoy the Malay culture in Kampong Glam, then visit the exceptional Botanic Gardens which are not just full of plants but full of history as well.

In September, the city will then host the most dynamic race in the F1 calendar, the 2016 Formula One Singapore Airlines Grand Prix. This long weekend of racing, live music and more, held from September 16-18, is the most anticipated event of the year and should not be missed. Entertainment planned for this year's race includes live performances from Kylie Minogue, Bastille, Pentatonix and Queen with Adam Lambert, so there’s lots to look forward to, both on and off the track.

In our fashion focus, Michelle Yee talks to homegrown Singaporean designer Danelle Woo about the local fashion scene and her popular label Aijek, while we learn about The Affordable Art Fair through an interview with Fair Director Alan Koh. April will also be a big month for sports lovers as the city welcomes the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series to the Sports Hub for the first time. If you ever needed an excuse to come to Singapore for a long weekend, the coming two months promise to be the most exciting of the year. For those looking to visit the city, we present our guide to some of the best accommodation options available, depending on what flavour you want your Singapore experience to be – for the frequent visitor, we encourage you to explore a new area and experience something new.

If ever there was an ideal time to visit Singapore, then 2015 is surely the year. The following 12 months promise to be an exciting period, as 50 years is celebrated across the board.
