Glimpses - India's Longest Tunnel

Chenani-Nashri Tunnel, also known as Patnitop Tunnel, India’s longest road tunnel with a length of 9.2 km was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the 2nd of April 2017. The tunnel was built at an estimated cost of Rs. 3,720 crore (US$550 million). The tunnel will bypass Patnitop, Kud and Batote to reduce traffic jams on NH 44 during winter. Distance between Chenani and Nashri will be reduced from the existing 41 km to 11 km. On NH44, the tunnel is a boon for Jammu & Kashmir residents and tourists.
