Coal and oil, being fossil fuels, produce much more greenhouse gases than cleaner energy sources. The government has major plans to expand its energy generation capacities in other fields of energy sources such as nuclear energy and renewable sources such as solar energy, that have the potential to allow India to reduce its net greenhouse gas emissions.
