Greetings from the Creature Companion team!
Month after month, we put in our heart and soul in bringing this magazine to you.
We treat all stories as specials yet, every once in a while, a new favourite is born. Our
cover story is a fine example of what I’m saying. In an exclusive interview with us,
Rishi Dev, the Delhi-based architect by profession and animal activist by passion,
talks about his new book ‘The Ekistics of Animal and Human Conflict’. It is rather
encouraging to come across someone who has dedicated almost two decades on the
human-animal conflict in the urban Indian context. Read the story to understand
this complex issue.
I am particularly pleased to introduce a new column on Pet Nutrition this month.
Dr Anton C Beynen, an expert from The Netherlands, will be writing an exclusive
dog and cat nutrition column. Whether you are a member of the burgeoning Indian
pet care industry or an ardent animal lover, it has been our constant endeavour to
bring international expertise to your table. This new column adds more momentum
to our effort. Also, do turn to our story ‘Purr-fecting the art of tackling cats’, the
concluding part of our series on the intriguing issue of cat behavior, put together by
International Cat Care, a UK-based charity.
As is evident from the cover, our chosen dog breed for the month is the Dalmatian.
Read the story to know all about the only spotted dog breed of the world. In the
‘Your pet and you’ section, read why not to share your food with your pooch. Here
is to the exotic quotient of our magazine! Know all about Komondor, our exotic dog
of the month. And while you are at it, flip to the pages on Kinkajou, our exotic pet
of the month.
Last but most important, we are saddened to announce the passing away of John
Richardson aka ‘The Dog Whisperer’. I would like to take a moment of your time in
his remembrance. Our thoughts and sympathies are with his family and friends at
this difficult time. You will be missed, John.
