The scorching heat and humidity of the summers are at their glorious best.
This season is fraught with illness and waterborne diseases for yourself
and your loved four legged companions. Have you ever pondered over the

Concern for stray animals, particularly dogs, has always been a talking point
between animal lovers and their detractors. We have outlined the seminal
work being done by some lesser known NGOs across India. Another
interesting read is about micro chipping your pets. Read up on pet nutrition
by our expert, Dr. Anton C. Beynen, a veterinary nutrition expert from the
Netherlands. In this column, he discusses the legality and concern regarding
natural and organic pet food labels.
Our chosen dog breed for this month is Dachshund. Learn all about these
long narrow built hunting dogs often nicknamed, ‘wiener’ or ‘sausage dog’.
Of German origin, they have been the preferred dog breed by royal courts
all over Europe. Queen Victoria of England was particularly enamored of
the breed.
