In this issue

Anjali is the yearly Tokyo Durga Puja magazine. It is a multilingual literary magazine published during Durga Puja (one of the most important festivals of India) in Bengali, English, Hindi, and Japanese languages. With the desire and help of the Indian community in Tokyo, the Embassy of India in Tokyo, the enthusiastic children , the authors and artists, the advertisers, Bengali Association of Tokyo, Japan (BATJ) and many more, this year we published the twenty eight edition of Anjali.
Despite the prolonged freedom struggle in India and the subsequent political, social, and economic instability, West Bengal has always played a progressive role in the cultural arena. The Bengal renaissance occurred here, led by the illustrious sons and daughters of Bengal, whose reevaluation evokes our pride. For this publication, light has been shed on several unique personalities of Bengali culture, such as Mrinal Sen, Dwijendralal Roy, Salil Chowdhury, Tarashankar Bandopadhyay, and Santosh Kumar Ghosh. I hope their life stories inspire the present and future generations.
Durga Puja is not just a religious festival; it is a cultural celebration too. Through the Anjali magazine, fostering Indo Japanese cultural ties is also an objective. With that in mind, the magazine’s content has been curated.
