Inspired by the patriotic initiative of the KL20X20 Photography Project by the KL-Ga collective in mobilising our community of artistic photographers during these difficult times to capture all “the rough and the smooth” in our capital city and present an epic series of evocative photo-stories of how far we’ve come and what makes Kuala Lumpur one of the most vibrant cities and societies that we are in 2020, we dedicate our October issue to their mammoth undertaking as well as the art of photography.
During their 10 days of exhibitions in September, we had the pleasure of catching up with some of the exhibiting photographers for some insight into their work. Their stories are published in our Features section this month for your perusal. Recognising the important role of photography in telling and memorialising the stories of the world, we also roped in our associate publisher and veteran journalist Rubin Khoo and approached the organisers of KL20X20 for an opportunity to present a workshop on photojournalism and how photographers can contribute to lifestyle media and help push the limits of editorial content. Check out our Primer section this month for Rubin’s story on the power of iconic photojournalism. Last but not least, in collaboration with Bvlgari Malaysia, we are proud to present you with our October cover star, actor, singer and August Man’s Men of the Year 2019 — Style award- winner Alvin Chong who has both taken his career to the next level and social media by storm with his latest single release.
