In this issue
Summer has come in hot and that means it’s time to ditch the last of the spring slump, embrace the sunshine and make the most of what our fair city has to offer. Our December and January issue taps into the crème de la crème of things to do over these scorching months from sipping on delectable cocktails to getting your fitspo on and hitting the hills to rallying the troops, packing up your car and escaping the hustle and bustle of the city. Bread & Circus – World Buskers Festival is rolling into town (Jan 10 – Feb 3) and with a wealth of entertainment and performances – some 527 – on the cards, we’ve done the rounds and compiled our top picks of artists to catch. We chat to some of the wild talent who are set to bring their next-level skills to the festival including Tom Flanagan aka Kaput, sassy lasses Hot Brown Honey, and Butch Locsin aka Skeleton of Color. We get the scoop on Ballantynes’ iconic Christmas window display, which was inspired by the custom-designed Christmas shopping bags that the department store has used in recent years, and we pull up a pew with rock chick Cathy Richardson of Jefferson Starship, who gives us the skinny on the pressures of playing rock legend Janis Joplin and holding her own. Feel inspired by our lust list, a carefully curated list which will ensure you stay ahead of the game in the beauty, fashion and homewares departments. We tuck into mouth-watering fare down at Universo Brasserie & Bar and devour some mighty fine eats courtesy of the wonderful team at Cookai Japanese Restaurant, plus get our cocktail on and learn the ropes from our friends at Botanic, who show us how to whip up a super-easy summer stunner. Last but not least, we do the rounds of all that’s buzzing on the eats and beats scene and give you the lowdown on the city’s newest boutiques to drop some coin on.
