In our Men's Fashion issue, we explore not just men's style as it has evolved, but look at the figures in our arts scene that have shaped the artistic and cultural landscape in Singapore. Among the group of artists we profile include pioneers like master ceramist Iskandar Jalil, designer Theseus Chan and sculptor Kumari Nahappan as well as a new vanguard of young creatives and artisans who remain committed to their craft despite the difficulties they continually faced. On our cover, nine Singapore-based models wear the Fear of God for Zegna collection that embraces a new gender-free spirit while we examine the changing modelling scene in Singapore.

Our April cover subject, the Hong Kong actress Carina Lau is not just thriving in the ever-changing film industry but revered for the unapologetic way in which she lives her life — enjoying beautiful things and spaces, while staying focussed on and being grateful for her acting career. In our cover story with Lau see her don Spring’s sharpest suits and most beautiful accessories while exhibiting her effortless grace.
 
Elsewhere in the issue we look at the designer Mary Katranztou’s compelling new collaboration with Bulgari on the Serpenti range of bags and accessories, and find out how she sought to merge her own aesthetic with that of the brand while creating pieces of heirloom-worthy quality.
 
Looking at cuisine in an unconventional vein, we delve into the history of prison cooking in Singapore, and marvel at the ingenious ways in which creativity can flourish in the most unlikely of spaces. Then we talk to a crochet artist who is pushing the boundaries of what the art form of knitting yarn can achieve discovering how a craft that is seen as almost domestic can be used as a tool of subversion.

For our March women’s fashion issue, we look at the future of fashion following the upheavals of 2020. There is a sense of optimism, as well as a reassessment of the kind of clothing and accessories that we truly need moving forward. Our cover subject is the Chinese supermodel He Sui, who models the best of Spring/Summer ’21’s offerings as well as dazzling high jewellery. 

In the fashion spread “Spring Awakening”, the photography duo of Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott showcase a fashion rebirth, highlighting bold silhouettes, glittering fabrics and flashes of skin. 
 
The discussion on fashion will not be complete without a look at brands that are really looking to change the way we consume and think of clothes and accessories. In our interview with the iconic designer Alber Elbaz we find out about his new label AZ Factory and how he is designing a new kind of luxury to fulfil the actual needs of its female clientele, instead of purely focussing on the whims and desires of his own creative spirit. For Japanese brand Sacai, change comes from working with artist Hank Willis Thomas at the intersection where art and fashion meet.

For our men’s fashion issue, we explore the idea of masculinity in all its facets. Our cover subject, Kim Woo Bin, a South Korean model-turned-actor, made waves with his performances when he first landed leading roles in 2013. After a short hiatus, Kim has returned to the entertainment world with a renewed purpose. Read about his career thus far and his new attitude towards self-love and success in our cover story.
 
Elsewhere in the issue, we look at what masculinity means to three individuals who have each grappled with their sense of identity and purpose both in their chosen profession, and their personal life. We also explore the growing influence of softbois and e-boys in popular culture and fashion, and the problems and possibilities that this new definition of masculinity poses.

Our cover subject, Chinese actress Liu Shishi, is highly regarded in the Chinese film and television industry and recently made her return to acting in 2020. Read about how she approaches her roles and why she may be ready to act in another period drama in our cover story. Elsewhere in this issue, we look at the career of French-Georgian pianist Khatia Buniatishvili  who has recently been named a Cartier ambassador. Read about how Buniatishvili combines her passions — providing for underprivileged youth and classical music — through her activism. For French actress Vanessa Paradis, getting dressed for a big event takes on a deeper meaning when she reflects on the craft, ingenuity and work that goes into the haute couture outfits she has worn over the years, pieces created by the house of Chanel.

For December we thought it fitting to end with a bang with five Singapore-based musicians who have been making new music content this year. On our cover we feature Jasmine Sokko, Benjamin Kheng, Yung Raja, Tabitha Nauser and Aisyah Aziz. Their music may span the gamut from rap to electronic to pop, but there are also striking similarities in terms of their hustle, grit and pure talent, and their determination to continue making music and art against the odds. As the rise of the internet and streaming services have blurred geographical lines, we have also seen the rise of a genre called bedroom pop — read about local band Sobs and how they have steadily built their own worldwide fanbase with nothing more than basic equipment at home and sheer talent.
 
Elsewhere in the issue, we cover the rise of FKA Twigs, a revelation in the music industry who has made herself a devoted student of various art forms — from dance to martial arts — in order to be the best performer she can be. We also interview the designer Matthew Williams to discover more about the collaboration between his brand 1017 Alyx 9SM and luxury label Moncler.

Every year, T Singapore deliberates on the most impactful individuals for The Greats, our annual list of cover subjects who have left their indelible footprint in their respective fields. This year, we looked both at home and abroad for inspiration. Two of our covers feature Singaporean talents. Kumar is a comedian, drag queen and performer extraordinaire who has been entertaining and exciting audiences for nearly 30 years with his uniquely Singaporean brand of humour; while Taiwan-based, Singapore-born Tanya Chua is one of the country’s most well-loved and talented musicians whose career has finally come full circle. Elsewhere on our list, we look to neighbouring Malaysia to learn about entrepreneur and style icon Neelofa. Finally, we look at two Japanese icons who have had a deep and profound impact on our collective aesthetic, whether we realise it or not: Yohji Yamamoto and Tadao Ando.

In our Independent Spirits issue, we look at the individuals who have carved their own paths in fields as varied as business and the arts. On our cover is actor Laura Harrier who is determined to build a career as a Black woman in Hollywood, despite the challenges and lack of opportunities traditionally faced by women of colour. Elsewhere in the issue, model-artist Sharon Alexie, touches on colourism and tokenism in the modelling industry and what her art means to her, while entrepreneur Wesley Ng looks at the importance of having a sense of mission even in a technology business.

In our Women's Fashion issue, we focus not just on fashion but also on the inspiring women who are transforming the scene — whether in culture, beauty or design. On our cover is Lili Reinhart. The actor, poet and burgeoning producer is not just a formidable talent who is gifted in multiple fields, she represents a new generation of women with a can-do spirit and refreshing candour, who are changing the very nature of a celebrity’s relationship with their fans. Our fashion and accessories spreads in this issue also invite you into different worlds with a powerful and diverse cast of women in order to inspire you to create and define your own expressions of identity in the months ahead.

In our Art, Design & Technology issue, we look at the ways in which these three pillars have transformed our artistic and cultural landscape. Cover subject, Chinese actress NiNi, talks about the evolving role of celebrity and her need to give back to society in our cover interview. Elsewhere in the issue, we look at the artists who changed the landscape, from black artists in the United States in the '60s and '70s to painter, sculptor and printmaker Frank Stella. Finally, our annual watch report combines the best of design and technology as we highlight the watches to know, love and covet in 2020.

In our Sustainability issue, we look at the different ways in which game changers in the industry are transforming the way we do business. Our cover subject, South Korean actor Park Seo Jun shares his views on the Korean entertainment scene and his close relationship with his fans. Elsewhere in the issue we explore the subject of food waste and how start-ups in Singapore are attempting to find creative solutions for the problem. Read about how the worlds of jewellery and fashion are also affected by the question of sustainability, and what the post-Covid-19 landscape will mean for travelling for fashion shows.

In our Film and Culture issue, we look at the way that film and television has shaped society. Cover subject Claire Danes has had a long career in the industry but she discusses how both mediums have evolved in the past 20 years. Meanwhile, we look at costume designer Alexandra Byrne's design inspirations, the hats in the Joseon-era zombie series "Kingdom" and the business decisions behind the growth of diversity inclusiveness. Elsewhere, we explore the compelling backstory behind the Singapore-filmed 1970s classic "Saint Jack" and look at the quiet streets of the island on lockdown.

In our Unconventional issue, we look at the philanthropists, artists, designers and perfumers who are doing things differently. Cover subject Christy Turlington Burns has pivoted from a modelling career to one as an activist advocating for maternal health awareness. Meanwhile, designer John Alexander Skelton is changing the way we look at menswear by focussing on craftsmanship and mining vintage fabrics for his inspired collections. Elsewhere, we explore the changing perfumery scene in Singapore and beyond and how there is now a focus on more unique and bespoke experiences. 

In T Singapore's Women's Fashion issue, we dive deep into Chanel's Haute Couture Spring/Summer '20 collection to uncover the craftsmanship and heritage behind it. In our fashion spread we look at how Spring/Summer's biggest trends are best sported in groups.
