As the UAE ushers in its 53rd National Day this month, the December issue also spotlights some of the country’s biggest achievers. First, we meet with Olympic equestrian Omar Al Marzouqi, joined by his sister Mthayel Al Marzouqi. As always, the September issue is dedicated to celebrating fashion, which it does via a stunning selection of shoots. In our pages, Yousra Mohsen articulates the FW24 silhouettes that are as geometric as they are colorful, while in another spread, Arab designers pull off a style coup with extravagant showstoppers and over-the-top proportions. Currently on everyone’s radar, the coquette aesthetic stands strong in the (pink) spotlight, along with ladylike fashion and high-shine futuristic finds.
In the pages of the September issue, readers will also find themselves diving into the world of haute couture. The 2024 edition of Vogue Arabia’s annual Saudi issue salutes the Kingdom’s majestic wildlife – the Arabian leopard, a regal symbol of national pride, and the camel, a revered national animal that embodies resilience and adaptability.
With 2024 marking the Year of the Camel, this month’s first cover sees HRH Princess AlJoharah bint Talal bin Abdulaziz Al Saud proudly wearing her father’s archived bisht, posing alongside Saudi Arabia’s national animal against the rock formations of AlUla. After an abrupt departure from the world of fashion in 2020, Halima Aden is back on the cover of Vogue. But this time, on her own terms, and never forgetting where she comes from. It is not a coincidence that this small but unforgettable village in Africa was selected as the backdrop for Halima Aden’s first cover shoot after she unexpectedly exited the fashion industry in 2020. Now we see Aden’s story being written again, but on her own terms, and right in front of our eyes. Wearing a delicate, white Chanel lace dress (with an underbody and a classic veil, of course), she is posing next to a beautiful Moroccan door – blue, as everything else around us.
The May issue is also a celebration of another trailblazer – The Little Mermaid star Halle Bailey. Reinventing Ariel for a new generation, Bailey wasn’t ready for the racist backlash that followed the announcement of a woman of color playing the mermaid on Disney’s live-action remake. In this edition we also look at fashion through the bold lens of Harris Reed, the new creative director of Nina Ricci.
