The fashion industry is one of  world’s largest employer and consumer  of creativity. In the recent years, the impact of fashion on the globe has been undeniably  powerful, especially as African fashion makes its way into the world mainstream fashion creating a  rise in what is dubbed ‘Afro-Fashion’. A trend that came with a bang, made no excuses and flowed with a huge influence from the MotherLand of Africa. A trend that found resonance with both the high-end mighty designers and the low and humble students/beginners alike.  Firmly setting itself apart from, but totally in seamless unity with the already existing and established fashion culture, styles and influence, it did not disrupt (but disrupted) the balance of the fashion world and all the drama, pomp and circumstances surrounding it; a.k.a; Fashion Week!!

 There's been a debate within and outside the industry, so many people are questioning the relevance of fashion weeks in this 21st Tech freak era. As this discussion makes its way through social media and among bloggers and fashion enthusiasts, our very own fashion professional, model and fashion consultant Gayle Ngozee takes sides on the topic. Their steel of will have at all times remained resolute, unshaken and unwaivering. They have always been clear, firm and ready to die for what they believe in. 

 From today's Serena Williams, Wole Soyinka to the then, Chinua Achebe, Nelson Mandela, Maya Angelou, to the historic voices such as Yaa Asantewa, John F Kennedy and Rosa Park. 
 Humanity has continued to benefit from such voices which today we recognise in history as the Steel of Will.

Now she’s a multi-award winning solicitor, currently the most senior black lawyer working within the UK pharmaceutical industry and is one of the most senior globally. She is a senior leader for the world’s largest biotech company, a practising solicitor leading the legal and corporate compliance, company secretarial and data protection functions that support the company’s pharmaceutical operations in the UK, Ireland, Malta and Gibraltar. Funke’s story is not just empowering, but also a huge step forward to creating that balance in the diversity narrative.

This issue, we take a bow to the legends of our time. All those who have been exceptionally giving of themselves in service to humanity. Though imperfect, they all have used their position, gifts and talent to shape the world, doing their parts to make an impact. So many of whom you will meet at this year’s Creativity Award (CA award).8 years ago it was unbelievable. Almost like a dream only that it was a fulfilment of MLK’s 46 years old prophesied dream.
