The past nine years have been serendipitous, euphoric, and at times really, really difficult, but never has there been a single dull moment! And now, it’s time to celebrate our 10th Glorious Year!

As you flip through the pages of this magazine, each topic you read has been shared by experts from around the country. Scouring for original content, is what we have been earnestly doing all these years and the contributions from every person within these pages speaks for itself. We have also observed and worked on minute details to offer substance and value in all our write-ups that address pertinent topics. And as the clock ticks on and the days and months pass by, we can proudly affirm that our readers are on the rise!

You don’t need any reminding about which time of the year we are presently enjoying, for the reason that, the roads are awash with rain and there is the constant pitter-patter of raindrops on your window, coupled with a nip in the air! Just a look at the dramatic sky filled with grey, water laden clouds ready to drench us at any minute, reinstates the importance of water in our lives and its necessity for our existence. Unfortunately, water is also a much-abused resource that needs to be conserved.

At the risk of sounding text bookish, here’s what happens when water falls from the sky - it becomes one with the Earth or makes the oceans, seas, rivers and little ponds its home. But if we happen to reflect upon the peculiarities of the nature of water, what stands out is the quality of ‘acceptance’ of this element.

Water flows and embraces everything in its way. When obstacles come in its path, it simply finds another way, but never quits till it reaches its destination! These remarkable qualities of ‘acceptance’ and ‘moving on’ are very characteristic of water and can possibly bring us much peace too, if emulated in our lives.

This month, Sri Lankan beauty and actress Jacqueline Fernandez features on our cover. She debuted in the film ‘Aladin’ and gave a solo hit with ‘Kick.’ After a fair share of fad diets and gimmicks and also with the intention of falling in line with industry standards, this very affable actress got into a disciplined fitness and diet routine. It’s that time again to welcome a new month of 2017. Six months have sped by and we are already in the middle of the year. The month of July promises to bring with it, ‘showers of blessings’ that will provide much respite from the spiralling temperatures that were witnessed some time back. And if misty mornings and magnificent weather is anything to go by, we are surely in for a refreshing season!

Every month that goes by and every new day we greet each morning, is also a subtle reminder of age catching up with us. But take heart, because in the words of Jules Renard, “It`s not how old you are, it`s how you are old.” All the same, society has always perceived ageing as an incurable disease and old age, as a problematic stage of life. It is such perceptions that have fostered a billion dollar industry which provides solutions to delay ageing and its related symptoms.

Hence, it is quite ironic that everyone wishes to acquire the wisdom that comes with age, yet nobody is willing to let it show, in the form of wrinkles or grey hair. ‘Conscious ageing’ is a unique means to look at and experience ageing in a manner that goes beyond the obsession of looking young. Thus, ‘the acceptance of ageing’ is an insightful write-up on how to age gracefully.

On our cover this month, we have the attractive Anushka Sharma, who wowed the audiences with her simple small town girl role, in her debut film, ‘Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi.’ Anushka set on the road to fame with modelling and soon captured a three-movie contract with the Yash Raj films banner that firmly planted her in Bollywood.

With the onset of June, the sultry weather of the past few months is slowing giving way to more pleasant climatic conditions. Also, ‘World Environment Day’ is observed during this month, as a reminder to treat our planet with more care, conscientiousness and affection. Nature has been rightly called ‘Mother Earth’ because she cares for us, nourishes and nurtures us. But in return, we spurn and hurt her with insensitivity and a careless approach.

‘World Environment Day’ is meant to help us reconnect with Nature and to take corrective measures to make amends for the damage we’ve inflicted on the Earth. Thus this month, some of the topics we’ve decided to focus on are loss/ earth/ soul/ goals etc. These are of paramount importance in our lives and hence need much thought and reflection.

Globalization and industrialization has left our planet and its resources in a deplorable state. Consequently, we are often witnessing natural turbulences in the environment caused due to global warming. Also, as a result of modern technology and the mechanized lives we lead today, we have lost connect with the Earth. Treading on the grass, soil, sand etc. with protective shoes on our feet is very common and the acceptable thing to do. However, our ancestors had a very profound connection with the Earth and thus, greatly benefitted from its energy.
