The November-December 2020 Edition for Apparel was indeed an exciting one with the latest trends being revealed from Meher's Lotus Make-up India Fashion Week to Weaving Stories with Weaverstory and recreating lost legacies with the help of the Rehwa Society for Maheshwari Saris. While Pranab Gandhi's open-hearted interview is an eye opener for people wanting to join the world of fashion photography, Aavaran's traditional motifs are breaking new barriers in their non-traditional ensembles and processes. The October issue was a new beginning for CMAI with Mr Rajesh Masand having been chosen as the new President along with a new group of Office Bearers. The cover story which was on gamosas spoke about love and respect and how the garment is important to the Assamese culture. The magazine also had several brand profiles that made a mark in hand made couture. It ended with a story on FDCI being a couturier's dream.

Garment Industry Indicates Disastrous First Quarter: CMAI attempted to conduct a Survey that suggests a Drop in Sales and a Massive Pile up of Bad Debts in the Coming Months

March 2020 issue was a fair issue that covered the 70th NGF Fair, which was held in February. The issue also carried stories on colours and how one should code their colours, while trying on outfits. The 5th Hand in Hand fashion show was published in the magazine, along with a story on timeless creations by Ura Maku. Reports on free eye check-up camps in Indore, IIGF festival and a workshop on the new GST Return were published in the same as well. The impact of coronavirus and Myanmar's strengthening apparel industry were also written upon. An interview with the CMAI President has also been published in the March edition. Brands that are redefining their stand like Bagh and brands like Kanelle that believe in easy to wear fashion were also published. Wendell Rodricks, a stalwart designer was remembered through the people whom he loved and who loved him back. Finally it was time to celebrated the art of India at the Lakme Fashion Summer/Resort Week of 2020.

The February 2020 issue of Apparel was a Fair special and opened with a story on the Draw of Lots event for the 70th National Garment Fair (NGF). The 69th NGF, held from July 15 to July 18, 2019, materialised successfully, and was met with an overwhelming response from both buyers and exhibitors. Apparel’s August issue carries in-depth chronicles of the same.

Apparel’s Fair Special issue, titled ‘Festive Fables’, threw the spotlight on the festive vigour that is not uncommon during this time of the year. Much of the magazine’s coverage was centred on the goings-on of CMAI’s 69th National Garment Fair, written under ‘Fair Update’.

Apart from this, the July 2019 issue has some other insightful features in store, including those on the versatile running stitch, the rise in demand for linen, monsoon clothing trends, the role of textile museums and galleries in preserving age-old crafts, the dialogue around living wage, how brands are now focusing on delivering a wholesome experience to consumers, the rise and rise of B2B platforms, the comeback of the indigo dye, and the need for brands to put words into action.

Our ‘Going Green’ section, on the other hand, focuses on how brands are adopting ethical and eco-friendly nuances to contribute to the overall sustainability of the fashion industry.
