This issue is the 10th anniversary issue of InfoMed. Therefore, we take pride in publishing as the cover story the images of the 40 covers of InfoMed. In the editorial, we trace back on the journey over the ten years, remembering with pride our contribution to bring greater awareness on healthcare and challenges. Positively we have diversified our efforts to reach out to our readers continually. We have published more than 700 articles and many of these are policy papers and forward-thinking write-ups on the dynamic progression of healthcare.

Healthcare is transforming dynamically. The editorial takes an overview of the situation now and where we are moving ahead amid the challenges and opportunities in store. The contents are more geared towards preventive care and managing some of the diseases such as haemophilia, migraine, hypothyroidism, uric acid, and kidney diseases. Topics that create awareness are also covered in this issue, such as autism, immunization, combating pre-diabetes, asthma, regular health screenings, and falls in the elderly. Taiwan had its annual Medical Taiwan expo, and we have published a newsletter on the products and services displayed at the expo.

InfoMed is proud to organize the Selangor Life Sciences Convention Synergy Conference 2024 for the 4th year. This issue provides a comprehensive overview of the conference's main topics for the two days: Precision Health and Generative AI and Healthcare. The annual Selangor International Healthcare Conference is taking stage on 20 and 21 October 2023. This year the focus is on Healthcare Financing and Precision Health. Details of the program are in the editorial. The conference engages stakeholders in healthcare on a common platform to address the industry in progress. The topics and forum discussions enable experts to present the latest developments in the industry that support the development of the healthcare ecosystem. This issue highlights the nursing profession and the importance of their contribution to the overall well-being of the healthcare industry.

The editorial is on Precision Healthcare, which is gaining importance for the future of healthcare. In particular, moving from personnel precision health to population health and primary care. This issue is dedicated to the recent Selangor International Healthcare Conference proceedings. The editorial is on the recent Selangor International Healthcare Conference. The conference was a great success in bringing eminent speakers in their fields of expertise and sharing their thoughts on topics that address the current trend in discussions on how we should move from sick care to health care. This issue dwells deep into Oncology Care at Columbia Asia Hospitals, a first in Malaysia for taking a multidisciplinary team approach. The issue has taken an unbiased approach to look at infertility from both sexes. Female infertility although is below 40% of infertile couples but is often taken for granted as the main reason for infertility. The male factor is a major contributing reason to a couple’s infertility. Men are sometimes oblivious to this, and the article provides a good understanding for couples planning to start a family. On the other hand, family planning gets its due recognition in managing pregnancy. InfoMed is organizing again the Selangor International Healthcare Conference in October 2022. This year-end issue focuses on the first successfully completed international healthcare conference organized by InfoMed. A summary report on the first day proceeding on “Infection and Vaccination” is presented, and a pictorial story on the conference. We have a special write-up and interview on the inaugural Selangor International Healthcare Conference 2021 at KLCC, Kuala Lumpur, from 19 to 21 November 2021. Amid the numerous lockdowns and restrictions, the conference will be held on a hybrid mode, focusing on three important healthcare sectors currently and into the future. This issue highlights the importance of nursing care in scaling new directions and delivering healthcare in the future, especially with the ageing population and increasing chronic diseases. Also, look out for the articles on digital health as the enabler and getting it right. Finally, an interesting interview with the CEO of Malaysian Healthcare Travel Council on the direction for medical tourism post-Covid.

This issue amid the COVID-19 focuses on articles relating to overcoming the pandemic challenges from the vaccine, vaccination to pandemic solidarity, face mask manufacturing and wearing, and a pandemic predicament for men’s sexual health. However, the editorial looks beyond the pandemic on what is next? Meanwhile, the Selangor State through Invest Selangor is moving ahead with the International Business Summit 2021 ala hybrid, and interestingly is hosting its first MEDIC Expo and the International Healthcare Conference. The inaugural conference will be addressing three key topics on Senior Care, Digital Health, and Infection and Vaccination. The conference and expo will be a much welcomed event after more than a year of only webinars and virtual events.

In this issue, particular focus has been given to aged care, the issues and recommendation to face this serious health challenge globally, which have received much attention during the current pandemic. While many countries are grappling with solutions to care for their seniors, we look at Malaysia's situation, which is progressing extremely fast to be an ageing nation. Dato' Dr Jacob has been a beacon for healthcare leadership in the region, now takes on his role globally for patient safety and delivery of quality healthcare. 

The cover story appropriately focuses on a successful healthcare entrepreneur who has made his mark in the manufacturing of hospital beds. Takes you back to the 1960s and traces the progress and building block of this entrepreneur. We again focus on the ravaging pandemic and revisit the editorial written before the appearance of the pandemic and its relevance now and beyond for the progress of healthcare. A challenge all of us should face post-pandemic and should take seriously the lessons from COVID-19. Long-term strategies and program are recommended hinging on the importance of fostering early education in health. This issue has a number of articles on cancer, namely on lung cancer, kidney cancer, liver cancer, prostate cancer and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). 

Healthcare needs ‘CARE’ to be emphasized. It cannot be more stressed than by discussing the care model that is evolving and the need for addressing the contentious issues in health care. The editorial discusses these aspects. With the coronavirus still at its peak and spreading, we look at some very pertinent daily issues we encounter in circumventing this spread. Choices are many when it comes to taking preventive measures. This whole episode has taken a commercial twist, and as consumers of healthcare, we need to know what works, is safe and how it should be used. We carry an article on sanitizers and disinfectants, as well as on an in-door bio-burden control natural product. The objective of the articles is the same, i.e., increasing our awareness to take control of our health.

Focus is on COVID-19 pandemic. The cover story looks at the actual figures from around the globe and how the countries are faring in their fight against this coronavirus.
