Why are you championing this species?
I have always been fascinated by speed. It started for me watching athletics at the Olympic games, specifically the 100m, so how can I not champion the king of speed, the peregrine falcon? I first fell in love with the species watching a show many moons ago called Steve Leonard’s Extreme Animals. They had a peregrine falcon in a hot air balloon and they put a camera on it. To see it mid-flight was just a privilege. I was a very young child and there was something about it that made me think “Whatever that thing is I’m looking at, it’s beautiful, it’s regal and I love it.”

But clawed frogs proved them wrong...
