Why is it important to keep on asking questions? Can't you just settle on a training method and stick to it?

During my years working with horses, I have been very privileged in that I have had the opportunity to work with many different people and horses from totally different backgrounds.

Why is it important to keep on asking questions? Can't you just settle on a training method and stick to it?

I’ve worked with horses and riders in show jumping, dressage, polo, reining, Western riding, Western mounted games, and racing. Furthermore, I’ve worked with horses from a range of different breeds. The lessons I have learnt along the way have been instrumental in guiding my approach to working with horses.

No matter the discipline we choose, they all have one fundamental factor in common – the horse. It doesn’t matter whether you’re a Grand Prix dressage rider or a three-star eventer, we are all working with a very intelligent and very powerful partner. And I feel that we owe it to our horses to keep asking questions… Thanks to constant research, our sport, management approach, safety measures, equipment and technologies are constantly evolving, and we should too. By adopting a growth-based mindset you open yourself to a world of knowledge, so keep asking questions, and even if you don’t agree with the answers, consider what you would do differently.
