MICHAEL WHITAKER returned to the five-star winner’s enclosure on Saturday night with a dazzling grand prix victory — and he looks to have found a scorching prospect in his winning ride JB’s Hot Stuff.
“I said to [my wife] Melissa after the first round, ‘I’m going to have a right go in this’ because she just felt fantastic — really up for it,” said Michael.
The 57-year-old Olympian and the 11-year-old daughter of Locarno 62 blazed a trail from mid-draw in a top-class jumpoff. They pulled off some daring turns and took out a stride to the imposing final vertical to clock the winning time of 37.2 seconds, half a second quicker than then leader and eventual runner-up
