The biggest mistake I’ve learnt from…

When I was 17, I had an amazing opportunity to work and compete in America [Saperstein’s yard, then run by Helen McNaught] with great people and fantastic horses, but I came home after six months because I was homesick. I was planning to go back, but never did. I still wonder what could have happened if I had gone back.

My tip for jump schooling…

We don’t jump the horses much at home, and we never jump them big. We do a lot of gridwork and hacking, to keep them happy.

My favourite restaurant…

This is terrible — McDonalds. I live on chicken nuggets and chips. We have a drive-thru a mile from our house, and some days I’ll have it for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
