‘We should never leave the farm'

A trip out for lunch proves stressful as Tessa Waugh and family attempt to navigate the pick-up through the bustle of Edinburgh city centre, but peace is restored in the end

‘We should never leave the farm'

THERE’S nothing like a family outing for provoking a really good domestic. We were in a city, which didn’t help. Crocodile Dundee, Mrs Croc and two Crocettes on day release from the wop-wops. There were roadworks and diversions on every street. Just normal stuff that most people deal with daily. All we wanted to do was pick Alec up from his new school and take him out to lunch, which shouldn’t have been such a challenge, really.

Nudging the pick-up through the traffic, Adam’s mood was brewing up, nicely aided by my helpful remarks from the passenger’s seat.
