We are delighted that Suzie Baldwin has joined our writing team on Your Chickens. Suzie is a high-profile chicken enthusiast who has appeared on TV, written books and runs a poultry business in Surrey. Here she tells her chicken-keeping story.
I grew up in Devon and was always surrounded by a menagerie of animals, but chickens have always been my passion. Their endearing characters and fabulous eggs just stole my heart. There is something magical about collecting warm eggs.
I moved from Devon in 1994 when I got married and we set up home in a more urban environment in Surrey. My husband, an office worker, liked animals but didn’t need them in his life! Well I did. The garden just wasn’t alive and I had no one to talk to! I soon bought some fabulous Silkies… and the madness began.
