Fish N Bait In Mumbai Pays Tribute To The ‘hero’ Who Ensures That Guests Enjoy A Good Seafood Meal
Industrial chic meets local grunge in the eye-catching Fish N Bait designed to weave a story of the rich culture and delectable cuisine that the coastal areas of our country have to offer. As we enter the glass doors to this new addition to the restaurant scene at BKC, we head straight for the seating opposite. What draws us is the live installation on the textured wall, highlighted by the lighting. Rustic flooring with stone-finish tiles in brown blending with the two-toned polished wood used for the interiors, fishing net suspended from wooden rafters on the ceiling filtering the light to create interesting patterns on the floor, and a wide screen displaying visuals of aquatic life... these are a few of our favourite things that immediately transport us to the sea.
Conceptualised by Umesh Desai and Associates (UDA), the latest venture by restaurateur Narayan Poojari of Shiv Sagar Food & Resorts Pvt Ltd (a partner at Mahesh Lunch Home), aspires to be the ultimate destination for seafood lovers. “The journey of Fish N Bait started off as a casual dining experience for the young and the old. We wanted to develop a brand which not only catered to the elite, but also the masses,” recalls architect Nishant Desai of UDA. “After a few brainstorming sessions, we narrowed down our concept to a fusion of the coasts of India, both West and East. We wanted to develop a relationship between the rich culture that our coasts have to offer and put it in the form of a story. The interior décor of the place also focuses on paying tribute to the humble and hardworking fishermen from different parts of our country.”
