Fendi Casa ushers in the 2017 furniture season with a younger, cleaner and overall more dynamic new approach that includes an enigmatic new sofa by French designer Toan Nguyen.

With its graphic lines and innovative use of colours, the new Six Shades of Palmer by Nguyen for Fendi Casa was one of the main seating attractions at Milan Design Week, which took place during the annual Salone del Mobile.

Fendi Casa’s bling and furs of yesteryear have been peeled away and replaced with sleek lines and a look that is indicative of a more pared-down, discreet yet powerful interpretation of luxury.

With its fruity hues of red, ranging from powder pink to strawberry and cherry, the sofa – which oozes luxury yet is not opulent – somehow set the stage for the summer season.

Nguyen took time out of his hectic Salone schedule to speak to id about this latest creation, before the glamorous unveiling of the sofa at the firm’s new via Montenapoleone flagship store.

Presented like a rare piece of art, the Six Shades of Palmer installation was presented to a hand-picked group of guests, who were ushered in to view the masterpiece in intimate groups.

Established in Rome in 1925, Fendi was one of the first Italian fashion brands to enter the world of furniture. Fendi Casa was launched in 1987, in collaboration with Alberto Vignatelli, who had the idea to decorate and dress rooms and furniture in the same style as the clothing of the famous fashion house.
