We Say: The Dominar Just Got A Comprehensive Upgrade That Addresses All The Little Niggles That Its Predecessor Suffered From
From the day we first rode the Dominar a few years ago, there were a few things that we disliked. There was a whole bunch we liked too, but the little niggles left a bad taste in our mouths – there was so much potential there, but somehow it couldn’t be all it could be. We’re thankful to report that with the new Dominar that is out, all those little issues have been sorted out. So, let’s dive right in…
What exactly has changed in the new Dominar? For starters, it gets a new cylinder head. It still runs the three spark plugs like before, but it now gets dual overhead cams for the valve train. Power is up five horses to 39.5bhp while torque remains at 35Nm, but at 500rpm higher than earlier. There is also a new exhaust with two outlets and a “throatier” exhaust note. The chassis gets some updates too with the USD forks from the KTMs making its way here along with new radial mounts for the Bybre brakes and a retuned rear shock. Visually, the headlamp is now smaller with some black inserts, the mirrors are mounted on new cast aluminium stalks, there is a new tank pad that comes pre-applied, there are new logos on the seat and it also gets a new colour in ‘Auroral Green’. Other changes include more comprehensive instrumentation, gear indicator on the secondary display on the tank, a new side stand and bungee straps under the pillion seat.

IMPRACTICAL YET IRRESISTIBLE
Exactly ten years ago, I took my first international trip. It was to Bahrain, a country of endless desert and skyscrapers, where my aunt and uncle lived. Among their friends and neighbours, one particular gentleman, upon learning I was a budding petrolhead, took an entire day off work to take me around the city’s showrooms to see some “normal” Middle East traffic.
