Kagiso (KG) Rabada exploded onto the international cricketing scene in 2015 and immediately made a big impact. The fast bowler may be just 23 years old, but he’s clearly on a charge. Just ask former Aussie captain Steve Smith, who shared some intimate moments with KG on the cricket pitch. We chatted cars and adventure with SA’s young cricketing sensation.
Where, when and in what did you learn to drive?
I was 17 years old, driving my mom’s VW Polo.
Any funny tales during that learning experience?
It was a bit of a nerve-racking experience, for both my mom and I. So she signed me up at a driving school, and I passed my driving test, no problem.
Your first car?
A sponsored Nissan Juke. I really enjoyed that and drove it for almost two years. I did scratch it once, though.
And your favorite car, if money was not a limiting factor?
The Nissan GT-R looks great and is very fast, too. But if I could have any car, I’d have a Bentley Continental GT… a blacked out one. Black wheels tinted windows, black body panels, even blacked out badges. I can really see myself rolling in a Bentley GT.
Do you follow motorsport?
I’ve been following Formula One for some years now, and I’m a big Lewis Hamilton fan.
Q: Electric cars are all the rage these days. What is your opinion on the future of mobility? Will we all go electric and hybrid?
