A roadster and a cruiser, both beautifully maintained and showered with love, this pairing represents all that was good about the MG-Rover era and shows what a fine legacy that short flowering left for MG enthusiasts.
Should it be a Rogan Josh, maybe a chicken Jalfrezi, or how about a tongue tingling Vindaloo? Actually, it doesn’t matter one bit even pretending I have a choice. That’s because as much as I peruse the takeaway menu from our local Indian restaurant, I will always end up with exactly the same thing I always have: a chicken Tikka. I don’t know why I waste time in even looking at the menu at all really. Perhaps I just want to suggest to my family that I am open to trying new things and that I am the kind of guy who walks a bit on the wild side of life... Oh, who am I kidding? Everyone knows I’ll stick to what I know I like, and that’s a nice safe chicken Tikka.
Then again, what’s wrong with that? At least I know that I will enjoy it and it’ll be money well spent. To me, it’s the safe and reliable option. Mind you, if you think that I’m hopeless at choosing a takeaway, you want to see me choose a car! It’s an awful experience, and not only for me. The whole family get utterly fed up (and that’s the polite way of saying it) of me changing my mind from petrol to diesel, estate to saloon and Roll Royce to Bentley! Actually that last bit was a joke; it’s more likely Hyundai to Kia if I’m honest, but choosing a car is a big thing and it’s important to get it right. Just ask Dave Lovatt what owning the right car means to him.
David is an ordinary guy. He has worked hard over the years and I’m sure he has experienced all the ups and downs of life, just like the rest of us. And like many of you reading this magazine, he loves his cars. Just like his dad Norman, David always takes particular interest in choosing the right car.
