What is it?’ I heard my friend ask. BMW’s newest, the X4, had reached my driveway just the night before for me to have a run in. The three-syllable question he’d mumbled could be taken on in two ways: it’s an SUV, of course, you blob. Why would you even bother asking? And yet, before I’d made up my mind about responding to him this way, I knew what he actually meant. This question, if I remember right, was exactly what I’d mumbled when I first saw the X6 despite knowing fully well that it is an SUV, of course.
