This Chevelle Spent 27 Years Wrapped in Foam.
According to longtime Greenville, Pennsylvania, resident Marc Rinella, manufacturing thrived in his area during the 1960's and 1970's. Companies like Greenville Steel Car, CBI, Westinghouse, and Werner Ladders were indirectly responsible for promoting muscle cars. “All the young guys had great-paying jobs, and we had muscle cars everywhere.”
After serving our country from 1964 to 1966, Marc built a large car wash in Greenville, which quickly became the hangout for muscle car owners interested in informal acceleration tests. “If you were going to race, you met at the car wash,” says Marc. If someone got beat on a Friday night, Marc would often hear of cars being traded for more powerful cars at either Bobby Allen Motors or Wein Motors, high performance dealerships in nearby Sharon, Pennsylvania.
Marc had his own share of hot cars at the time, with a 1963 409/425-horse Impala SS, a 1965 327/365-horse Corvette with 4.11 gears, and a heavily modified 1967 Corvette from Wein Motors.
