Covid-19 hit the UK hard in March. The uncertainty of what the future holds has had a huge effect but we are all trying our best to keep going. Our team at Volvo Truck & Bus Centre East Anglia made some changes to the way we work and operate throughout the business to minimize disruption, but also keep the wheels of haulage moving.
As a FuelWatch manager, my role involves regular travel around the region, this changes from day-to-day. Regular daily routines can include meetings with customers, delivering new Volvos, handing them over to drivers, delivering demonstrators into customers or even driver training. Obviously none of these roles can be done whilst working from home.
FH 500 Turbo Compound Globetrotter XL 6x2 tag delivered to Dave Donaldson of ITS Transport (UK) Ltd at their Irthlingborough operating center on 1 April
Working for Volvo in a regional role means I always carry my office with me in the boot of the car. Working from the home system was implemented to all staff who were able to do so and this meant setting up a makeshift office. I now have all I need, the same as my base at Ely. I’m still in close contact with our customers, answering emails and inquiries also keeping in contact with colleagues over mobile or via Skype.
