Before we start, can I assure all readers that the title is the only Star Wars reference to be found in this article… So why were we so keen to feature this van? Well I first saw it in the metal at Ultimate Dubs held in Telford in March last year. And it just looked so right, the stance, the colour and those wheels! To be honest we try to stay away from sign written vans, but this one just had to go in the magazine. The next reason was that Andy Stretton, yes that Andy Stretton, head honcho at Transporter HQ and the owner the stunning cover bus in issue 92, well, he is also the man behind So Low. Now Andy, who was on the stand that day, was making some seriously bold claims about the quality of the ride of the then new kit, and to be fair he’s not normally someone to make bold claims that he can’t back up. Then we started hearing from independent sources that it really was that good. So, with those claims ringing in my ears and my knowledge of how good it looked we dispatched Andrew Thompson to take some pictures. Now Andrew, as those that know him will affirm, is no stranger to the ways of the low. His T4 has worn out more undertrays and gearbox mounts (the part that sits closest to the ground on a lowered T4) than he would care to admit. Andrew seemed the perfect man for the job, he was duly dispatched from his Bristol base to So Low’s Lutterworth HQ.
