Boss Van

When Matt Brooks made the decision to buy his boss’ old T4, he had a lot to learn. Then he met Scarface Lowriders…

Boss Van

Anyone remember the days when chucking some lowered springs on the back of a T4 and winding the front end down got you noticed? Back then you could throw on a set of Audi rims and you were T4 royalty. Not anymore, that was then and this is now. And things have moved on.

These days, if your teeth aren’t self-extracting on cat’s eyes and you can last more than five miles without the need of a sports bra (applicable to both girls and some boys…), then you’re just not low enough.

But here’s the thing: it doesn’t need to be that way any more, even if you’re rolling static. How do we know? Because Matt Brooks told us so, and the proof is in the Colorado Red Pearl pudding he is fortunate enough to call ‘my Van.’

As you can imagine, it wasn’t always his Van. Being only four-years old when it was built in 1999 makes that a forgivable fact, but he’s definitely made it his own since buying it from his boss at work.

Matt: “I actually had another T4 before this one that I planned to convert. But in the end that was used as a workhorse until I got a new job that came with a company van, and then I sold it.”

Boss baby

The new boss, also a friend of the family, had owned this Caravelle T4 for around six years. But after having it repainted in its original colour, he kind of lost the love for it, due to the scratch and ding paranoia that comes free with any fresh paint job.

“I think the main problem was he didn’t have any off-road parking and so, rather than have it sit on his road getting messed up, he decided to sell,” explains Matt.

Great news for Matt, especially since he has first-hand knowledge of how well the Van has been maintained in recent times.
