Sikkim's Rich Organic Flora And Fauna

It was the recipient of India Safaigiri Award for being the ‘cleanest hill station in India’ in 2015 and was declared as the ‘best region to visit’ in 2014 by the Lonely Planet. Sikkim has also been ranked 17th out of 52 places to visit in 2017 by The New York Times.

This Indian state has a spectacular diversity of natural habitats and wildlife within a relatively small geographic area of around 7,096 square kilometres. From breath-taking river valleys and verdant forests to blooming alpine meadows and ice barren glaciers and cold deserts – the state has it all.

Sikkim Organic Mission is a flagship project of the Government of Sikkim. The project was originally conceptualised by Pawan Chamling, Chief Minister, Sikkim, in 2003. This mission gained countrywide popularity through the television talk show ‘Satyamev Jayate’, which was hosted by actor Aamir Khan in 2012.
