Corporate decision-makers to convene at the biggest business expo of 2017
Contributing 22.6% to Malaysia’s GDP, Selangor is home to the largest sea port in the country, along with a robust innovation and manufacturing hub. On this end, the state is continuously ramping its efforts to be a global trading hub, offering investors a dynamic, progressive and resourceful business landscape.
Over the years, Selangor has become a force to be reckoned with in Asia, thanks to its diverse manufacturing base, high concentration of industrial activity and central location to markets.
The state is currently ranked second in Malaysia in terms of total direct investment in the manufacturing sector. It outperformed its RM6 billion (bn) target in 2016 – achieving investments of RM7.88bn in the sector. However, based on the number of approved manufacturing projects, Selangor is at the top of its game with 242 projects.
Dato’ Teng Chang Khim, Selangor’s State Senior Executive Councillor for Investment, Industry & Commerce, SME & Transportation says: “To help steer Selangor’s economy to greater heights, the state is focusing on five core clusters, namely electrical & electronics; life sciences; food & beverage; manufacturing; transport equipment; and machinery & equipment. These clusters include a range of industries from aerospace to pharmaceuticals, all of which will serve as the right tools in accelerating Selangor’s growth and sustainability.”
Armed with its five promising aspirations, the state is poised to provide an ideal business landscape in Malaysia. In further driving its agenda, the State government of Selangor, via Invest Selangor Berhad, is organising the much-anticipated Selangor International Expo once again.
