Jacqueline Fernandez is on a mission to make her CV run into several pages. Her filmography is growing fast, she’s mastered social media, and she can make a mean banana walnut muffin. Plus, she has loads of plans for the future that include making documentaries. All this, she tells Sandipan Dalal, leaves her with no time for love.
Jacqueline Fernandez, or Jacque, as she is fondly called by her Dishoom co-stars Varun Dhawan and John Abraham, has her hands full. She has just wrapped up shooting for the film and is busy with jury duty on a dance show on TV. It’s hectic, but Jacqueline won’t have it any other way. She’s keen to add variety to her body of work and wants to collaborate with people who bring out the best in her. She looks back at her seven years in Bollywood and shares her plans for the future.
It’s been seven years since you made your Bollywood debut with Aladin. How do you look back at this time in the industry?
It was a difficult journey. For the most part, I was on my own. But I’ve made some friends who have supported me unconditionally—Sujoy Ghosh (director of Aladin) is someone I reach out to for advice, (producer) Sajid Nadiadwala put his faith in me from day one and we are like family now, Salman (Khan) revived my career with Kick and Sonam (Kapoor) introduced me to people from the film industry at a time when I didn’t know anyone.
What made you sign on a music video like GF BF and a feature film like A Flying Jatt starring rank newcomers Sooraj Pancholi and Tiger Shroff?
