The big question is ‘What if Newton wins the Oscar?’ Of course, there are a thousand variables attached to that and a healthy dose of destiny too. But the idea that Newton has an outside chance of making India proud at the 2018 Oscars is terribly exciting. It’s a thought that puts a million-dollar smile on Anjali Patil’s face. She’s been around since 2011, having worked in films like Prakash Jha’s Chakravyuh and Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s Mirziya as well the subliminal Marathi feature The Silence. But no other movie has created as much buzz for Anjali as Newton. “Recently at the Mumbai airport, I was standing in the queue for immigration. The officer who checked my passport struck up a conversation on Newton. I had to remind him to clear me so I could board my flight to London,” she smiles.
