Push to ban blow-up rodent union uses to fight scabs

RED-EYED inflatable rodent Scabby the Rat — a longtime fixture at Chicago’s union protests — may be exterminated by the feds if public support deflates for the menacing mascot, authorities say.

Despite previous court findings that labeled the picket line fixture as protected free speech under the First Amendment, the National Labor Relations Board issued an order inviting the public to chime in on a case that could determine Scabby’s fate.
