The sun shines brightly this afternoon – the cooler chimes of Film’s First City, Mumbai, have come to an end as temperatures soar making way for sun-dappled roads and swaying palm trees by the seaside. A quiet bylane of central Mumbai plays host to HELLO!’s cover shoot where an unassuming studio fills up quickly with camera men, prop decorators, stylists, managers, assistants, videographers, social media executives, hair and make-up experts – and finally – our main attraction, the vivacious, yet modest, Ms. Haasan.

She’s naturally beautiful – doe-eyes and alabaster skin – unadorned and paired with an off-the-shoulder black fitted top tucked into light blue jeans, and she leans back into the makeup chair. Her hair is twirled while her porcelain skin forms the perfect canvas for pops of blue and green on her eyelids. A quick change of clothes and setting up of the final lights and we are ready to go! She’s a dazzling pop-coloured vision against a pristine white backdrop.

She comes alive with the music playing at the photo shoot… bursting into impromptu jigs in between shots and loosing her smile when a faulty Bluetooth causes the playlist to pause. Her relaxed free spiritedness is on full display – she’s confident, young and fun!

The child of two versatile and passionate artistes (Supernova Kamal Haasan and actress Sarika), Shruti, embodies the very nature of an art lover – playing the dual roles of both artiste and muse. She works to master her art forms while simultaneously being an entity that is constantly moulded by her directors and tutors. With a twirl, a smile, a kick, a flick of eyelashes – her countenance is beguiling and unattainable all at once – the cynosure of all eyes.
