A new lawsuit takes aim at Alec Baldwin for the accidental shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins last October

Hours after the latest lawsuit was announced, Alec posted a video of a sign that read, “Everything is going to be all right,” to Instagram. “Someone is responsible for what happened,” he’s previously said of the shooting accident. “But I know it’s not me.”

Life has gone on for Alec Baldwin. In the four months since he accidentally killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins while making the western Rust in New Mexico, the actor has celebrated holidays, spent time in Vermont and the Hamptons, and even begun filming a new movie.

He’s not completely off the hook for the Oct. 21 tragedy, though. With a criminal investigation still ongoing — and his phone currently being examined by police — Halyna’s family filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Alec, as well as other members of the Rust team, on Feb. 15. Attorney Brian Panish specifically called out the leading man and producer, 63, for causing “a death that was reckless and never needed to happen.” “He’s not accepting any responsibility,” Panish said during an interview on Dan Abrams Live. “But for him shooting the gun, Halyna is still here today.”
