Kylie Minogue is 50 and fabulous. She has a stellar career spanning decades, and she’s nowhere near ready to step out of the spotlight.

But last year, Kylie’s perfect life was ripped apart when her relationship with fiancé Joshua Sasse broke down 12 months after they’d got engaged. ‘I don’t want to overdramatise it, but it was nervous breakdown time,’ remembers Kylie.

She since admitted she’d felt pressured to ‘be like other people’ when she accepted Sasse’s proposal, and that she doesn’t know if marriage is something she even wants, despite rumours she is dating.

And, like Kylie, it took heartbreak for Cyndi Maisonneuve, 33, to realise what her priorities really were.

Looking at the photo of me and my friends on the beach in Hawaii, it might seem like a typical girlie getaway – days spent by the pool and enjoying cocktails by night.

But the truth is, this picture was taken on my honeymoon, after I was jilted at the altar...

I’d met Alex* in the summer of 2007 on a work day out and the attraction was instant. He was handsome and as we chatted over a drink, we soon realised we both loved sports and travelling.

Over the next six months, we spent every weekend together. By the time we went on our first holiday to Hawaii, in January 2008, Alex and I were in love.

One morning, we woke early to catch the sunrise. Standing on the beach, I was so mesmerised by the sky, I didn’t notice Alex get down on one knee. It was all so fast, but I knew I wanted to be with him.
